Protective workwear and other practicalities to be focus of new construction test
The new-look construction industry health and safety test will have practical matters at its core.
The standard health and safety test for the construction industry is to focus less on theory and more on practical matters such as the importance of protective workwear, it has been confirmed.
With around 500,000 people a year taking the test, which is compulsory even for those working for just a matter of days, the body that sets it, CITB ConstructionSkills, is constantly striving to ensure it is as up-to-date and relevant as possible.
As such, it has now confirmed that the current exam will be revamped, with the new-look test, which is due to be launched in April next year, to focus more on practical matters such as the role of protective workwear on the building site.
Announcing the news, the CITB's Chris Little said: "Consulting with industry we have refreshed the question bank and the test structure to include new sections and questions addressing the changing needs of the whole construction industry both locally and nationally."
This comes as thousands of new construction jobs are set to be created in the next few months as the finishing touches are put on the main sites for the London Olympics.
